Janet Fishman became
interested in photography as a young child,
enjoying the way film captured the expressions
of the individual moments forever. As she
viewed her parents' and grandparents' photo
albums, she felt her ancestors brought
to life again. With these historic photos
as catalyst, Janet went on to study the
images of people and wonder what their
lives were like: What feelings, thoughts,
and dreams did they have? What emotions
were they experiencing when the photo was
taken? Who were their friends? What were
their jobs? Janet strives to go beyond
just taking the photographic image. She
strives to recreate the story behind the
photograph.
Janet uses photography
to preserve the mood of the moment. Janet
becomes very passionate about the photographs
she takes, deeply experiencing a special
connection with her subjects. This unique
gift results in an image that is not
just seen, but experienced, with depth
of emotion, by the viewer. With vibrant
colors, beautiful scenery, and unique
composition, her art form inspires people
to reflect on their thoughts and feelings.
Janet's vision is to create photographs
that not only preserve memories, but
also speak to people.
Janet is a member of NANPA-North American
Nature Photography Association and contributes
editorially to its publications. Janet
is an artist member of California Lawyers
for the Arts, the Santa Monica division.
Janet is also on the Board of Directors
of Arts in Education Aid Council, Inc.,
a nonprofit organization that supports
and restores the arts in public schools.
She is a noted photographer in the San
Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County.
